This is a school project assigned to me by my LA teacher - a website with a challenge that lasts 3 weeks. My challenge will exceed 3 weeks, but 3 weeks of that time will be devoted to my school challenge. Beyond the deadline, I will still be accepting donations and miles. I will keep posting hikes on my blog, and still turn in donations. I am required to label different types of sentences on my website, which include 3 simple sentences, 5 compound sentences, 7 complex sentences, and 5 compound-complex sentences.
What are simple sentences?
Simple sentences are the ordinary style of sentences, and they are also known as an independent clause, having one or more subject and verb. For example,
Bob went to the store.
The Subject is colored red and the verb is colored green.
Bob went to the store.
The Subject is colored red and the verb is colored green.
Um... uh... what are compound sentences?
Compound sentences are a combination of two simple sentences (independent clauses). They are always stuck together with some type of conjunction. My teacher uses the term FANBOYS to help us remember all the conjunctions.
Conjunctions include...
for
and
nor
but
or
yet
so
Examples include,
Bob went to the store, and he bought groceries.
The compound sentence is a combination of 2 sentences, Bob went to the store. and Bob bought groceries. , and they are combined together with , and.

And... what are complex sentences? i kinda... um... forgot.
Don't worry, after reading this you won't forget anymore. Complex sentences are made up of an independent clause and a dependent clause.
What is a dependent clause you ask? Good question.
A dependent clause is part of a sentence that needs an independent clause in order to be a full sentence. For example,
After his shopping, Bob went back home.
This is a complex sentence. After his shopping cannot be a sentence by itself, so it's accompanied by Bob went back home. Bob went back home is an independent clause. The two of them together create a complex sentence, a sentence made up of a combination of an independent clause and a dependent clause.

and that leaves compound-complex sentences, right?
Right. Compound-complex sentences include 2 independent clauses and a dependent clause. For Example,
After his shopping, Bob went back home, and he put his groceries away.
After his shopping, Bob went back home, and he put his groceries away.
You can help me complete this project by helping me get as many miles as possible within the three weeks.
